Your recruitment interview is scheduled and you are having difficulty preparing for it? Do not panic. We will try to support you as best we can.
The first thing to do and certainly the most difficult: relax !
The more “zen” you will be in a recruitment interview, the easier it will be both in terms of exchanges (expressing yourself, organizing your thoughts) and presenting yourself as you are.
For this, the ideal is to prepare for this recruitment interview. And the points below will necessarily be part of the topics discussed during the said interview.
Your experiences and skills
Reread the job offer well and prepare a list of experiences, tasks (…) related to the recruited profile that you absolutely want to mention.
Those that will highlight during your interview your successes but also what excites you, what you feel proud of.
Do not limit yourself to listing professional experiences! You certainly have personal experiences which are equally important to address during the interview.
You will certainly cite others, but these, because they resemble you, you must not forget. Remember to find for each experience or task a specific example that will make it possible to concretize your words.
The company where you are applying
Get well informed heard a minimum about the company, its values, its employer brand...
Even if this theme is not addressed, it will always be pleasant for the recruiter to hear during the recruitment interview a few messages, "key words" during the exchanges which show that you have informed yourself and that you are consistent with its values.
Your qualities
We'll be honest, the “Name me three of your qualities and three faults.”, sometimes heard during job interviews, is THE old-fashioned question (in our opinion anyway).
This in no way takes away your skills will be just as important as your skills to integrate a position, a company.
We're not going to lie to you either: "I'm motivated and punctual!" is not the ideal answer.
To better understand what we mean by that: who would say in a job interview that he or she is not motivated? Or that he or she is not punctual? … Person !
So, to prepare well for this interview, also prepare on paper (or not) your “real” strengths, those for which the reverse may be true but, the ones that really describe you AND that you can use as an example.
“During my missions, I was able to reorganize all the administrative filing of files over two years. I reorganized the cupboards according to the following logic…”. Here you will prove to the recruiter that you are a logical and organized person.
“During the project…, on which I was able to work as a team, I was responsible for getting the management team to adhere to the direction we wanted to take.” In this case, you will demonstrate that you have a team spirit and a certain ability to convince.
Areas of progress
And yes, we rarely correspond 100% to a job profile.
To properly prepare for your recruitment interview, prepare your areas of progress. There are always one or two and don't worry, it's normal! Nobody is perfect.
So don't hesitate during your recruitment interview to share what you might be missing, while explaining how you envisage the future (training, support, etc.) to build skills on the subject.
The interview: D-Day
Here is the last advice we can give you before you leave for your interview: be as honest as possible with the recruiter but also with yourself… You will have nothing to gain by trying to cheat, just like the recruiter who is interviewing you!
If you were to find yourself in a position that does not correspond to you either in terms of expectations or in terms of skills, you would not be happier.
