Recycling at Abalone is all year round! On this special day of March 18, World Recycling Day, Abalone continues in 2022 to reduce and offset its impacts!
The Abalone group has always been concerned with environmental and societal issues, resulting in numerous initiatives on waste recycling which will become widespread for the group in 2022.
Recycling of cigarette butts
Did you know ? 8 million cigarette butts are thrown away every minute in the world. And yet, cigarette butts can be recycled very well! While two thirds of these cigarette butts end up in nature, on the sidewalks or in the sewers, Abalone approached the services of MeGo! To set up a cigarette butt collection system at our head office.
Thus, in 2021, Abalone collected 18 kg of cigarette butts, and this is just the beginning! This collection allowed the manufacture of street furniture. This harvest also made it possible to save 18 m100 of water (the equivalent of four Olympic swimming pools).
Collecting papers with the association Arbres
Not less than 874 kg of paper were collected at the Abalone head office, in partnership with the association Trees. The missions of the latter are to ensure the reception, hiring and return to sustainable employment of people encountering social and professional difficulties. The Abalone collection thus generated 35 hours of integration through economic activity.
Our goal is that by the end of 2022, all of our branches will be able to recycle their paper and their photocopier ink cartridges.
The collection of cans continues with K'Net Partage!
As you already know, Abalone has a special relationship with aluminum cans! After our European collection of cans initiated in 2017 for the construction of the Abalone Heart, we are continuing our approach to recovering this waste! After the 35 cans collected and which today constitute the sculpture, all our agencies continue to collect your cans to return them to a network of partner recyclers: K'Net Sharing. The funds recovered by the K'Net Partage association are then used to support projects and associations that support children in vulnerable situations. Don't hesitate to contact your local Abalone agency to drop off your recycled cans!
Isothermal bottles for our temporary workers
We know that there is nothing fantastic about plastic… it pollutes! Also, the Abalone group will make insulated bottles available to its loyal temporary workers from mid-April to reduce the use of plastic bottles as much as possible in workshops and on construction sites. The first insulated bottles were already distributed in 2019, and given the success they had with temporary workers, we are renewing the operation in 2022 for all those who have joined us since.
What if we went further?
Recycling is one thing, but we can go even further, and this is the direction that the Abalone group wants to take from 2022! In France, the transition to a circular economy is officially recognized as one of the objectives of the energy and ecological transition, and as one of the commitments of sustainable development.
To do this, we must collect and sort our waste, but above all consume less and consume better.
The circular economy consists of producing goods and services in a sustainable way by limiting the consumption and waste of resources and the production of waste. It is about moving from a completely disposable society to a circular economic model. Here's how it works:
Recycling is no longer an obligation, but a necessity because it is urgent to act. See you soon for new actions!
